Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along blog was a internet video that came out two years ago during the writers strike. Joss Whedon was bored I guess and wanted to throw some money at a side project. After $300,000 dollars of his own money and some small donations, Dr. Horrible was created. The movie is very good, let alone it cost them so little.
For those of you that hate Musicals, stop listening to me and read another post on this site. They’re quite good, trust me.
This is a a musical, and a very good one. I was happy to see this film since all other tv at the time was lame due to the strike. It’s quite good though, simple and low cost. This movie is certainly not a blockbuster hit but the fans love it. Staring Neil Patrick Harris, Felicia Day, and Nathan Fillion this movie has remember-able songs that keep you begging for more. It was released in three different acts. The show is short and compact but very fun.
I appreciated the originality of the show, the slight humor and the fun of it all. Dr. Horrible is a villain just trying to make it out in the world. Falls for the love of his life, Felicia Day, and losses her to his arch enemy, Captain Hammer.
If you’ve ever watched anything done by Joss Whedon then you know that he has some pretty good stuff. Some of my favorites shows are done by him. Ever heard of the cult favorite, Firefly? That was him. Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Buffy never gets enough credit. Or the new movie coming out next year, The Avengers. He has a very good way of filming his characters so you deeply know them within minutes. You can find this very true in this musical.
Find it on Hulu and check it out.
That’s all for now.
