As the 2.5 of you who follow this blog know, I’ve been following M. Night Shyamalan’s career with great interest. From the dizzying heights of his first and greatest movie The Sixth Sense to the perilous lows of the crapfest The Last Airbender, his career has been on a downward slide.
For some reason, I never bothered watching the movie Devil, which he conceptualized and produced, but did not write or direct. I watched it yesterday, having not even read any reviews, curious more than anything else.
And how was it?
Not horrible, really.
I mean, it had its fair share of hokey and silly moments and I did laugh a couple times, but by and large it was a decent movie. The atmosphere was well done, there was some decent tension and the acting was pretty solid, if unspectacular.
On the whole, if Shyamalan stuck to producing movies and developing stories, his movies could become a guilty pleasure for me, if they stay like this.
